Armed robbers exchanged gunfires with mall security guards during a daring daylight robbery in a jewelry store in Farmers Plaza Mall in Cubao, Quezon City Tuesday.
Radio reports said the suspects, who were on board two motorbikes, arrived and barged into the First Allied Emporium Jewelry, located at the mall's ground floor, at around 9:40 a.m.
The suspects allegedly smashed jewelry glass cases, while their cohorts on board their motorcycles waited for them to get out with the loot.
One of the Araneta Center security guards, who described the suspects as wearing bullcaps, was alerted and fired at the suspects who fled to the direction of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA), reports added.
The suspects returned fire while escaping and caused panic among civilians. No one was reported injured in the incident, as of posting.
