Burn, baby, burn: Winner accidentally burns P12M lotto winning ticket

The winner of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) P12-million lottery prize may be "crying a river" now.

This after he failed to collect his multi-million prize because his daughter burned the ticket with the use of a flat iron to smooth out the crumples on it.

Antonio Failon Mendoza, former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) of Calaca, Batangas said he won the October 2 draw worth P12million and got the winning ticket to prove it.

He was about to go to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to claim his prize when his grandchild got hold of his ticket and crumpled it.

They were thinking that PCSO wouldn't want a crumpled ticket, so the daughter took out a flat iron and ironed out the whole ticket.

But in the process, she burned a big part of it, making it useless and impossible to read.

What the PCSO say?
"No ticket, no payment" "The ticket should be readable"
Though the outlet where Mendoza bought the ticket confirmed that the winning ticket was indeed bought from them, PCSO cannot pay Mendoza.

PCSO General Manager Ferdinand Roxas II said they are stricter now to discourage fake claimants from trooping to their office.
