'Folding desk of the future' lets you work anywhere

Whether you're a traveling salesman or a worker who's always on the go, this "folding desk of the future" is just the right furniture for you.

Called the "Refold," the 7mm, 6.5 kg kraft cardboard can be fully assembled into a standing/sitting desk in under two minutes. It’s offered in three different sizes in accordance with a user’s height.

The design folds and slots together, using four main pieces, with no tape or glue. As it is digitally fabricated, the design is completely customizable and can be adapted to cater to different needs or areas.

Oliver Ward, one of Refold’s co-founders said that their original standing desk prototype was born out of necessity while working on another project. About 18 months ago, he and his staff encountered a problem where they didn’t have enough desks, so they designed a portable cardboard one.

Just how strong is a cardboard desk? Ward and his co-founders, each weighing between 80 and 90kg, posed standing on top of their desks to show people just how rugged they are.

Refold’s Kickstarter campaign ends on November 10. If successful, delivery is estimated to be from January 2015. Pre-ordering will initially cost from $113 USD. (Source: Tech Asia, Voxy)
