Minors will no longer be allowed to wear sexy costumes during beauty pageants once a new ordinance banning sexy outfits for children is passed in Valenzuela City, a local councilor said.
Councilor Corazon Cortez of the 1st District of Valenzuela City said the ordinance aims to protect the welfare of minors especially the females when joining contests and shows.
If approved, the "Children in Public Shows" ordinance will prohibit organizers to allow their minor contestants to wear sexy outfits, including rendering songs and dances which contains lewd themes.
The ordinance says:
- 4.1. Organizers shall not attempt, cause or allow children to wear indecent, inappropriate or lewd clothings, costumes or apparels in any public shows
- 4.2. Organizers shall not attempt, cause or allow children to (a) sing with foul and censored lyrics (b) dance with sensual or sexual themes
- 4.3. Allow children to perform or participate in public shows after nine thirty o'clock in the evening to five o'clock in the morning
- 4.5. Organizers are prohibited to allow children to participate in any public shows without a barangay permit or signed parent or guardian consent
Those who will be found violating the ordinance may suffer a penalty of up to one year and six months jail term and a fine of up to five thousand pesos. The organizers may also lose their permits to hold such shows.
