Brace yourself, folks.
If you're planning a trip and has to pass through the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 (NAIA 1), get ready for a hotter temperature inside, as the airport will start replacing the air handling units (AHU) for its air-conditioning system in the coming days.
Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Jose Angel Honrado said the replacement of the AHUs is part of the NAIA 1's rehabilitation.
“Under the circumstances, we humbly seek the continued support and understanding of our airport users. Let us instead look forward to the good that all these efforts will bring to us and to our country at large,” Honrado said in a statement.
Last April, Transportation Secretary Jose Emilio Abaya apologized to the public for the temperature in NAIA-1.
At the time, he said the MIAA had to shut off some AHUs to prevent dust from being sucked into the air-conditioning system.

Honrado said the AHU replacement may mean higher temperatures in affected areas.
All 36 old AHUs are to be replaced while the MIAA has so far received the first 17 new units.
Honrado said the replacement will be done in “clusters” to ensure continued air conditioning in other areas of NAIA-1.
They expect to finish replacing the first 17 units in November, and all 36 by March 2015, he said.
Areas that maintenance will affect are:
Portions of the arrival level including baggage reclaim and Customs offices
At the departure level, the east side of the check-in hall
Airline and government offices at the fourth level
Passenger lounges of Japan Airlines, MIASCOR, Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines (transferring to Terminal 3 on September 1) and Korean Airlines --Source: GMA News
