Just days after a De La Salle-College of St Benilde student died in a fraternity initiation rite, another college student -- this time, from state-owned University of the Philippines Diliman -- was rushed to a hospital, apparently from hazing injuries.
The UP Diliman administration on Thursday said it is investigating the incident, but refused to provide details.
UP Diliman chancellor Michael Tan said in a statement:
"The Diliman administration is in touch with the family. They want justice but also want to keep their privacy,"
"We respect their decision therefore cannot give details about the case even as we continue our investigation,"
On Wednesday, Rock Ed Philippines founder Gang Badoy, a UP Diliman alumna, tweeted that there was a "near death" from a "prominent" UP fraternity admitted recently at St. Luke's Medical Center. She said she got the message from someone at the hospital.
A few days ago, 18-year-old Guillo Servando, a student of De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, died after undergoing hazing rites in Makati City. Three more students were hospitalized due to the same incident. --Source: GMA News
