Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP) on Monday introduced the all-new Vios at a ceremonial line-off at its plant in Santa Rosa, Laguna.
TMP president Michinobu Sugata said the introduction of the All-New Vios in the country is a result of collaboration among many sectors.
Sugata said that Toyota is planning to further enhance the localization ratio of this model by utilizing TMP's press plant to localize the stamping of 15 part numbers by July 2014.
"This will bring improved press technology into the country and allow us to realize our vision of invigorating Philippine manufacturing, which is very important in terms of its great potential for investments, employment and technology," he said.
Vios, Toyota's best-selling passenger car in the Philippines and ASEAN region, is now on its third generation. Since its introduction in 2003, the Vios has been known in its class as a leader in quality, reliability and fuel efficiency.
TMP vice chairman Alfred Ty said the all-new Vios is a big step to firm up the company's market leadership.
"This best-selling local passenger car takes center stage as a symbol of how our vehicles are made with the customer in mind - built with the highest quality, sold and delivered with passion, and maintained with great customer service," Ty said.--Source: Toyota Motor Phils/ABS-CBN News
