"Buy Pinoy" is stepping up its campaign to promote and patronize Philippine-made products, and to further strengthen the small entrepreneurs.

'Buy Pinoy' steps up campaign for PH made products
Philippine industries are urged to source raw materials from local markets, while Filipino consumers are asked to use local products under the “Buy Pinoy” campaign, to make for a stronger manufacturing sector and to assist small entrepreneurs. By patronizing locally made products, industries and consumers help local manufacturers and suppliers who, with higher sales, are able to improve their products, increase output, lower production costs, meet standards, and create jobs.

“Buy Pinoy” is being advocated by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), the country’s largest business organization, to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in their bid to be competitive, especially with the economic integration of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) 10 member states by 2015.

The PCCI is not limiting the campaign to consumer goods. It urges everyone to patronize the country’s tourism offerings by exploring local attractions rather than going abroad. It invites travelers to go first see the country and enjoy its beauty and wonders.--Excerpt from Tempo
