QC lifts liquor ban, but leisure businesses remain closed in city's new MECQ guidelines

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Friday, April 30, issued a memorandum, "Revised MECQ Guidelines" on the lifting of the liquor ban, shortened curfew hours and the imposition of restrictions in certain business establishments.

Here are the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) Guidelines to be implemented in Quezon City from April 30, 2021 to May 14, 2021.

The city government will implement the following: 

  1. Public Safety Hours (curfew) from 10:00 PM- 4:00 AM
  2. Liquor sale from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. May be consumed within the premises of duly licensed establishments or at home. Drinking on public places such as sidewalks or streets is prohibited.
  3. Personal care services such as beauty salons, beauty parlors, barbershops and nail spas from 4:00 AM to 10:00 PM
  4. Dine-in is permitted from 4:00 AM to 10:00 PM, in accordance with the Safety Seal Program.




STILL NOT ALLOWED

The following businesses are still not allowed to operate under the MECQ.
  1. Entertainment venues with live performers such as karaoke bars, bars, clubs, concert halls, theaters and cinemas.
  2. Recreational venues such as internet cafes, billiard halls, amusement arcades, bowling alleys, and similar venues.
  3. Amusement theme parks, fairs/peryas, kid amusement industries such as playgrounds, playrooms and kiddie rides.
  4. Outdoor contact sports activities (such as basketball, football), and other team spprts/double team games ( tennis, table tennis, badminton, volletball, etc).
  5. Indoor sports (whether contact or non contact) fitness studio, gyms, spa, or other indoor leisure centers or facilities,  swimming pool operations in condos, clubhouses, villages, and private poolsused as mini resorts. Swimming pools may only be used for sports training activities only.
  6. Casinos, horse races, cockfights, non-PCSO lottery, e-bingo, etc.
  7. Indoor visitor and tourist attraction such as galleries, museums, shows, cultural events, etc.
  8. Outdoor tourist attractions.
  9. Hotel function rooms and similar facilities for purposes of meetings, conferences, exhibitions, etc..
  10. Personal care services such as cosmetics, body waxing, derma clinics, wellness and holistic centers, body piercing, tattooing, etc.
