The new Yamaha Vinoora launches for the Taiwanese market integrating the new and old elements of "New" and "Retro", a sleek and cute scooter with the ladies of mobility in mind.

The new Yamaha Vinoora is a lady's trendy idea of city mobility

The double-ring LED headlights and round taillights add a playful and funny expression, creating the exclusive visual symbol of the Vinoora, which gets a bit quirky as they resemble two cute, Minion eyes.

The Yamaha Vinoora, with a fuel consumption of 57.7 km per liter, is powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine with CVT, an engine start-stop, a four-liter fuel tank, a disc brake up front, and a drum brake in the rear. To make it more convenient, there’s also a USB charging port onboard, perfect for charging phones on the go.

The Vinoora M variant, meanwhile, adds the British style of urban men, incorporating in its design a rear pillion grab rail, matte black paint, a brown seat cover, headlight guards, and chrome accents.

The Yamaha Vinoora is initially available in Taiwan but is geared to enter the Japanese market very soon.

The standard Vinoora, with a seat height of 745 mm, is available in colors of matte gray, matte green, matte navy blue, and cream. The M variant comes in matte black with a seat height of 755 mm.

Price is pegged at 17,900 yuan (approx. Php 132,000) for the standard Vinoora and 18,700 yuan (approx. Php 138,000) for the M variant.

QC govt, PNP says they will arrest violators of firecracker ban on New Year festivities

In support of the national government’s call to implement a firecracker ban, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has ordered the strict enforcement of an ordinance prohibiting the use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices in all public places during festivities.

QC govt says they will arrest violators of firecracker ban on New Year festivities

In an advisory, Belmonte directed the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) and other members of the city’s Peace and Order Cluster to strictly implement Ordinance No. SP 2618, S-2017.

“The strict implementation of the Firecracker Ordinance, will, aside from reducing firecracker injuries, discourage gatherings for fireworks display and aid in compliance with COVID-19 health protocols,” Belmonte said.

“The reduction in firecracker injuries will also ease the burden on medical resources, which are already overstrained by the ongoing pandemic,” she added.

Belmonte issued the order in support of the Metro Manila Council MMDA Resolution No. 20-17, prohibiting the individual and household use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices during general community quarantine (GCQ).

The resolution stressed that the individual and household use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices attract mass gatherings without proper observance of COVID-19 safety protocols such as social distancing and allowed number of persons.

The Regional Peace and Order Council-NCR’s Resolution No. 19, S-2020 also enjoins all Metro Manila local government units to enforce a total ban on firecracker use.

In its resolution, the RPOC-NCR encouraged Metro Manila LGUs to implement ban on firecrackers as directed by Executive Order No. 28 issued by President Duterte in 2017.

Ordinance No. SP 2618, S-2017 prohibits the use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices in all public places in Quezon City during festivity or any occasion, unless there is a clearance from the DPOS.

Public places include street, road, alley, thoroughfare, open space, plaza, parks, basketball courts and other similar places.

The ordinance has tasked barangay captains to strictly enforce the ban within their respective jurisdictions with the assistance from the QCPD and DPOS.

Those caught violating the provisions of the ordinance will be meted a fine of P5,000 or one-year imprisonment, or both at the discretion of the court.

As of this time, there are only three community fireworks displays allowed by the DPOS, to be held at the Quezon Memorial Circle, Eastwood City and Araneta City. The fireworks display will be virtual, and no crowd will be allowed in the venues to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“Hopefully, we can still ring in the New Year with a fireworks display because this has already been our longstanding tradition,” said Gen. Elmo San Diego, DPOS head.

The Quezon City Council also passed Ordinance No. SP-2587, S-2017, which outlaws the selling, giving and sharing of any type of firecracker to minor children within its territorial jurisdiction.

The ordinance covers firecrackers such as Baby Rocket, Bawang, Small Triangulo, Pulling of Strings, Paper Caps, El Diablo, Judah’s Belt, Rocket, and other equivalent firecrackers.

Violators will be meted a fine of P5,000 or one-year imprisonment, or both at the discretion of the court. (via website: quezoncity.gov.ph)

Looking closely at every Honda scooter updates for 2021, the all new Honda BeAT 110 cc could be the most followed and anticipated scooter yet.

2021 Honda Beat Image Gallery, Specs, Features, Colors, Approx Price: Php 67K

Changes are substantial for the 2021 Honda BeAT model, and are definitely not limited to a new coat of paint and fresh body stripes.

Although the new BeAT 110 cc is still mini, it’s grown a bit in physical size - fuel tank at 4.2 liters, underseat storage capacity at 11.7 liters, and seat height set at 742 mm. But don't be misled with these upgrades because total weight for the BeAT has been reduced by 3 kg to 90 kg.

The BeAT’s engine is Euro 4 compliant, producing 8.67 hp at 7,500 rpm and 9.53 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm using a 108.2 cc, single-cylinder air-cooled engine. Power goes through an automatic gear box and belt drive.

Other significant changes are the LED headlights, side mirrors, digital speedometer, wheels, and of course, the introduction of a seat opener at the front console.

Color range comes in four variants - Vivacity Red, Force Silver Metallic, Pearl Nightfall Blue and Space Magenta Metallic.

Will it launch in the Philippines? Well, hopes are high. After all, the BeAT is still one of Honda PH's best-selling scooter so it's not at all impossible to see it rolling into our shores anytime soon.

Price for the Malaysian market is pegged at RM 5,555 retail, which roughly translates to about Php 67,000.

JUST SO YOU KNOW: Color coding still suspended, car prices to go up, truck ban to stay

$

0
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced in their Facebook page that the modified number color coding scheme remains suspended from January 4, 2021 until further notice.

JUST SO YOU KNOW: Color coding still suspended, car prices to go up, truck ban to stay

The Facebook post, however, did not say if the suspension also includes Makati City which enforces its own modified number coding scheme.

So, until the MMDA officially announces when the color coding will be re-implemented, motorists going to their offices in Metro Manila can still drive on their coding day. But for Makati City, we don't know yet.

Car prices will go up, or auto specs to downgrade

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), on Monday, announced the imposition of a cash bond of PhP 70,000 for every imported Passenger Car and PhP 110,000 per imported Light Commercial Vehicle.

Reason? According to DTI, this is to protect the local automotive manufacturing sector from the apparent influx of imported cars.

You see, most car manufacturers now are importing cars either from Thailand or Indonesia since some local assembly plants shut down last year. Business common sense says it's more cheaper for automakers to import cars than build them here.

The additional tariff is expected to cause car prices to go up or some auto specs to downgrade because extra costs, generally, are always passed on to consumers. As to how much the price increase will be, we still don't know yet.

Will motorbikes get a price increase, too? They would if DTI decides to include motorcycles and scooters in the new tariff set-up.

Truck ban stays, or so it seems...

There is no word yet from the MMDA whether the just reimplemented truck ban will be lifted or not in the National Capital Region. So until then, the truck ban stays in NCR.

With the ban back in place since December 14 of 2020, trucks are not allowed on main roads in Metro Manila from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

On Edsa, from the Magallanes interchange in Makati City to North Avenue in Quezon City where traffic congestion is at its worst, trucks are totally banned 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Trucks are allowed only from North Avenue to Balintawak and from Magallanes to Roxas Boulevard.

Quezon City residents who are planning to travel outside Metro Manila are advised to secure their medical travel clearance from a health center near them.

QC residents can now get medical travel clearance from health centers. Here's how

This after the City Health Department (CHD) announced it will no longer be issuing the said clearance from the city hall.

“We encourage our QCitizens to go to their health center preferably during the afternoon when the volume of patients is low,” said CHD chief Dra. Esperanza Arias.

Here's how to get your medical travel clearance at your nearby health centers.

1. Residents who will be securing a medical travel clearance should accomplish the downloadable health declaration form https://quezoncity.gov.ph/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/QCHD-Health-Declaration-Form.pdf.

2. They should also bring a government-issued identification card and a barangay clearance that will verify their residence and will show that they are not in the list of COVID-19 suspect, probable, nor confirmed individuals.

3. Applicants who will bring with them children aged 18 years old and below must present documents showing their relation to the said minor i.e. birth certificate.

4. Applicants who will be accompanied by senior citizens or those 60 years old and above, meanwhile, must present documents indicating that they have the same residence.

The complete list of health centers per district can be accessed from this link: https://quezoncity.gov.ph/qcitizen-guides/how-to-get-a-medical-travel-clearance-and-a-travel-pass/ . Applicants must go to the health center located at or near their barangay. They must also take note of the doctor’s schedule before heading to the center.

In instances when the assigned doctor is unavailable or schedules don’t match, the applicants are advised to proceed to the next nearest health center within the same cluster in their district. (Website: quezoncity.gov.ph)

We will still see cash lanes inside major Luzon expressways as the transition period for the 100% cashless transaction scheme in tollways will remain in effect "until further notice", according to an announcement from the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB).

RFID deadline postponed 'until further notice', cash lanes to stay

"Cash lanes will still be available. Motorists without RFID will not be apprehended. RFID subscription and installation [are] available in many locations designated by the toll operators," says TRB Spokesperson Julius Corpuz.

Back in December, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) deferred the enforcement of the RFID deadline to address the complaints of motorists due to the faulty RFID system, and the inability of the toll operators to cope with the huge number of vehicles that are supposed to have the RFID installed.

The Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) operates EasyTrip RFIDs used in the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), and Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALLAX).

San Miguel Corporation (SMC), meanwhile, operates the Autosweep RFIDs which are used at the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR), South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Skyway, NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).

Motorists can have their RFID stickers installed at many locations designated by the toll operators such as customer service centers, gas stations, malls and near toll plazas.

New MMDA boss wants to move EDSA motorcycle lane at rightmost side

Newly-appointed Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos, Jr. mulls on moving the motorcyle (MC) lane at the rightmost portion of the Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).

New MMDA boss wants to move EDSA motorcycle lane at rightmost side

This he said during a press conference yesterday at the MMDA’s central office in Makati shortly after taking oath as the agency’s new chairman.

The EDSA motorcycle lane, which originally sits along the second lane from the center island, lost its spot to cars when the EDSA Busway was designated at the leftmost lane.

Moving the MC lane to the rightmost portion, which places the motorcycles side by side with bicycles, may effectively reduce the number of motorcycle-related accidents, particularly along EDSA, Abalos said.

Abalos was the mayor of Mandaluyong City when the controversial “Anti-riding-in-tandem” ordinance was enforced via City Ordinance No. 550, which was amended in 2018. The said ordinance, aimed to prevent crimes perpetrated by criminals riding-in-tandem, makes pillion 'angkas' riding unlawful and comes with hefty fines for its violators.

PH Top selling cars 2020: Data show Filipinos still love cars

$
0
0
It was all rough roads for the car industry due to the Covid 19 pandemic. With the bumpy year 2020 finally over, we can, at long last, see how all of the chaos affected automotive sales in the Philippines, according to statistics from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID).

PH Top selling cars for 2020 stats show Filipinos still love cars

New vehicle sales in the Philippines fell sharply at 244,274 units sold against last year's 457,110 units sold. The numbers are still strong despite a solid 53% drop brought about by the slowdown of sales which started at the second half of March due to the country's quarantine restrictions. Sales only began to pick up at the third and last quarter when people were allowed to move around again, plus the introduction of virtual showroom displays on websites.

Still undisturbed in the top position is Toyota with 100,019 units sold, with Mitsubishi behind at second place with 37,366 units sold. Nissan and Hyundai battled it out for third and fourth places with 21,751 units and 16,651 units sold, respectively. Closing in behind at top five is Suzuki with 15,515 units sold.

Manufacturers have yet to disclose their units sold per model, but in any case (and I know you will agree) the Toyota Vios remains the most widely seen vehicle on the streets, including its bigger cousins, the Fortuner and Innova. The Mitsubishi Xpander and Suzuki Ertiga gets their own fair share of road exposures, too, as well as the Nissan Terra, Nissan Almera, Hyundai Reina and Hyundai Accent.

CAMPI and AVID tallied up the top ten best-selling car brands through all of 2020.

Top 10:

  1. Toyota (Toyota Motor Philippines) 100,019
  2. Mitsubishi (Mitsubishi Motors Philippines) 37,366
  3. Nissan (Nissan Philippines) 21,751
  4. Hyundai (Hyundai Asia Resources Inc.) 16,651
  5. Suzuki (Suzuki Philippines) 15,515
  6. Ford (Ford Motor Company Philippines) 14,775
  7. Honda (Honda Cars Philippines) 11,711
  8. Isuzu (Isuzu Philippines Corporation) 11,240
  9. Foton (Foton Motor Philippines) 2,456
  10. Hino (Hino Motors Philippines) 2,214

From Top 11 to 20:

11. Geely (Sojitz G Auto Philippines) 2,158
12. Kia (Adventure Cycle Philippines) 2,129
13. Mazda (Bermaz Auto Philippines) 1,374
14. Fuso (Sojitz Fuso Philippines) 828
15. Subaru (Motor Image Pilipinas) 784
16. Mercedes-Benz (Auto Nation Group) 620
17. BMW (SMC Asia Car Distributors) 611
18. Chevrolet, MG (The Covenant Car Company) 503
19. GAC (Legado Motors)255
20. Volskwagen (Automobile Central Enterprise) 177

The CAMPI and AVID lists also include Jaguar, Land Rover (Coventry Motors Corporation) 172; Changan (Berjaya Auto Asia) 141; Peugeot (Eurobrands Distributor) 137; Lotus, Mini (British United Automobiles) 130; Tata (Pilipinas TAJ Auto Group) 86; MAN (MAN Automotive Concessionaires Corporation) 76; SsangYong (SsangYong Berjaya Motor Philippines)52; BAIC (Universal Motors Corporation) 31; Iveco (Columbian Motors Corporation) 12; JMC (Dreamco Automotive), Daewoo CMANC, Jinbei Auto IKK Ichigan, Aston Martin (DBPhils Motorsports), Porsche, Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini (PGA Cars) JAC (Treisenburg Auto Corporation), thus completing the total of 244,274 units sold.

The fees also do not mention if they're already VAT-inclusive, so they could get  a bit higher on the final run. In addition, these fees reflect Class 1 vehicles only so we can all expect bigger vehicles to pay more.

Skyway Stage 3 is owned by the San Miguel Corporation and will definitely use the Autosweep RFID for its cashless transactions.

Kymco Like 150i Noodoe with ABS: Price, Specs, Features, Colors

The Like 150i features the Noodoe dashboard technology, which is an interactive dash that connects a smartphone to the scooter for smart navigation. It has a customizable dash display that allows riders to create their own design, and then share with friends through the Noodoe cloud – an online social community where bikers around the world communicate with each other.
