Maynilad Water Services Inc. will soon be implementing a price hike on their water services soon, after winning its appeal on rebasing adjustment.
Of course, you've already seen the figures on television showing the increase rate at an average of P3.06/cu.m, a current power of 7 pounds per square inch (psi) to 16 psi, percentages of loss and gains, etc.
And still more figures which definitely led you to confusion on how much would you actually pay on a monthly basis once the price hikes are implemented.
To make it simple, here's a computation done by Maynilad’s chief finance officer Randolph Estrellado, according to a news report from ABS-CBN News.
If you're an ordinary household in Metro Manila (and some parts in Cavite) and consuming an average of 20 cubic meters per month, you will be charged an additional P50.40 on your monthly Maynilad water bill.
Meanwhile, if you're only consuming an average of 10 cubic meters per month, you will get a P12.60 increase on your monthly bill.
However, if you're a voracious water consumer and can gobble up to 30 cubic meters per month, then you'll be charged an additional P79.80 per month.
Estrellado added that the average increase of P3.06/cu.m. is still pending approval of the MWSS and will be effective 15 days after the decision is published in a major newspaper.
Maynilad received the decision of the appeals panel on Monday, January 5. There has been no ruling yet for the case of Manila Water.
Maynilad's services covers around 9 million people as of end 2014, from the cities of Manila (certain areas), Quezon City (certain areas), Makati (certain areas), Caloocan, Pasay, Paranaque, Las Pinas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario in Cavite Province.
