Despite not being on Typhoon Hagupit/Ruby's path, Metro Manila will still experience rains as it makes landfall on Saturday, PAGASA announced in a DZMM radio interview.
Dr. Landrico Dalida, Jr., deputy deputy director for operations and services of PAGASA, said that the National Capital Region (NCR) lies at the outer edge of the typhoon's 600-kilometer diameter.
And being just within its radius, Metro Manila will still experience winds packing up to 30 to 60 kilometers, while the typhoon enters the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) specifically in the Visayas region.
Typhoon Ruby is already classified by the US Navy's Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) as a super typhoon with maximum sustained winds of 205 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 240 kph.
STORM SIGNALS
Storm signal number 2 with winds of 61 to 100 kph in at least 24 hours, will be experienced by the following provinces:
- Northern Samar
- Eastern Samar
- Samar
- Biliran
- Leyte
- Southern Leyte
- Dinagat Island
- Siargao Island
Storm signal number 1 with winds of 30 to 60 kph in at least 36 hours, will be experienced by the following provinces:
- Catanduanes
- Albay
- Sorsogon
- Masbate
- Ticao Island
- Northern Cebu
- Bantayan Island
- Camotes Island
- Bohol
- Surigao del Norte
- Surigao del Sur
- Camiguin Island
- Agusan del Norte
