SM North EDSA had just become the world's biggest solar powered mall with the installation of a 1.5-megawatt (MW) solar facility on its roof deck.
The gigantic plant, totaling to a number of 5,760 solar panels and 60 inverters covering more than 12,000 square meters, will augment the electricity requirements of the premiere mall -- the size of which can generate electricity to power up about 2,000 Filipino households.
Solar Philippines, SM's system provider, said the facility is expected to operate for more than 25 years and offset an estimated 40,000 tons of carbon dioxide emission, or the equivalent of planting 200,000 trees.
Impressive!
The solar plant at SM North EDSA shall be inaugurated on November 24, 2014.
