No more 'men in blue': Security guards take over Camp Crame

Nope, they're not privatizing the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The 73 private security guards who took over the control of the Camp Crame perimeter last Saturday is part of the PNP's newest policy to put more cops in the streets.

PNP spokesman Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor said the guards, who came from the "Right Eight" security agency, were posted to implement the plan of PNP Chief Alan Purisima to download more policemen from office work to do beat patrols for police visibility and crime prevention.

The security guards were also directed to man other Camp facilities, including the Officer’s Row Gate, the Transformation Oval, National Headquarters Lobby, National Headquarters Back Parking,  National Headquarters North Wing, and  National Headquarters South Wing.

Prior to their postings, the guards underwent a three-day orientation on their duties and responsibilities.
