Still carrying a police general's calling card or a selfie photo with him inside your wallet? Better not flaunt it anymore.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has ordered their cops to arrest these individuals trying to escape traffic apprehensions by way of name-dropping, "selfie" photos, and calling cards.
PNP spokesman Senior Supt. Wilben Mayor said some motorists might show off their “selfie” with top cops to escape traffic citations. A “selfie” might also be used with a business card to prove a supposed connection or affiliation with a police official.
In fact, he said policemen should even arrest individuals who use such methods.
The PNP spokesman also revealed there are cases where establishments post photos of their owners with top government and police officials to scare off raiding policemen.
Mayor said:
“In case of doubt, law enforcers who will be confronted with a situation involving a name-dropping traffic violator should simply do their job of enforcing the law,”
While there is nothing wrong with police officials posing for photos with civilians, the danger lies when an individual uses the photo for his own gain, he added.
Just a week ago, FHM model Alyzza Agustin received social media flak from irate netizens after she posted on Facebook a calling card of a policeman, Chief Supt. Alexander Ignacio, which she supposedly used to avoid being charged with a traffic violation.
The calling card claims Agustin to be Ignacio’s EA or executive assistant. The acronym "EA" even spawned several memes on the internet, including "extrang asawa," and "extrang affair."
But, Ignacio, who heads the PNP office for plans, had since denied knowing the model.
The policeman is now poised to file charges against her.
