Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista said classes will be suspended as a safety measure for the students and to minimize traffic congestion in the vicinity of the Batasan Pambansa during the SONA.

"The safety and protection of our schoolchildren shall remain as the city's primordial concern," the mayor said in a statement.

The decision to suspend classes in universities and college level, meanwhile, is up to the discretion of the schools and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Classes at the Quezon City Polytechnic University's (QCPU) in Batasan will also be suspended on Monday, according to QCPU vice president for administration Melanie Pisig.--Source: ABS-CBN News
