A low pressure area (LPA) entered the Philippine area of responsibility on Monday morning, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

PAGASA said the LPA was spotted 190 kilometers north northwest of Laoag City in Ilocos Norte as of 5 a.m. Monday.
Speaking to dzMM, PAGASA forecaster Samuel Duran said the LPA is not expected to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours.
In the event the LPA develops into tropical depression, it will be named ''Ester."
Due to the LPA, the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rains or thunderstorms.
Light to moderate winds coming from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and from the south to southwest over Mindanao. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate.
Meanwhile, Duran said PAGASA may officially declare the onset of wet season soon.
Duran said four of the eight weather stations of PAGASA have already accumulated 25-millimeter rainfall for three consecutive days. He said only one more station is needed to achieve this requirement in order for the weather bureau to declare the start of the wet season.
Duran said the Philippines should expect two to three tropical cyclones this June.--Source: PAGASA/ABS-CBN News
