Fox TV has lined up for its upcoming season a new television series called "Gotham," a high-profile Batman show, a Fox official said on Monday.

Fox Broadcasting Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly said that "Gotham," is a prequel TV series which follows a police officer in the world of Batman and charts the origins of the D.C. Comics superhero.
The show revolves around a young Commissioner Gordon (Ben McKenzie) then an ordinary detective, Jada Pinkett Smith as a sexy mob boss and future supervillain, and The Penguin (Robin Taylor) when he was just a young punk.
Also starring are the Batman regulars including Bruce Wayne and the Riddler.
