MRT, LRT schedule for Holy Week 2014

MRT and LRT lines will be closed from April 17 to 20, 2014 (Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday), with operations resuming Monday April 21, said the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA).

This will be in observance of the Lenten Season.

Commercial operations of Line 1 on April 16, Holy Wednesday, will be up to 8 p.m. while Line 2 will be shut down at 8.30 p.m., said LRTA Spokesman Hernando Cabrera.

LRT 1 & 2 operations will be suspended from April 17 to 20, 2014 to give way to the annual maintenance works for the two lines which will include general cleaning and checking of the trains, LRT facilities, systems and equipment and replacement of catenary wires.

Normal operations of Lines 1 & 2 will resume on April 21, Monday at 5 a.m.

The LRT’s Line 1 runs from Baclaran in Pasay City to Roosevelt in Quezon City, while Line 2 stretches from C.M. Recto Avenue in Manila to Santolan in Pasig City.

The MRT line, meanwhile, runs from North EDSA in Quezon City to EDSA Taft Avenue in Pasay City. --Source: Manila Standard Today
