A new teaser trailer for the sequels to the live-action "Rurouni Kenshin" film -- "Kyoto Inferno" and "The Legend Ends" has been released.
The anime/manga known as Rurouni Kenshin got a live-action film adaptation back in 2012. The next two film sequels, called Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno and Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends will hit theaters in Japan on August 1 and September 13, respectively.
Shishio is played by Tatsuya Fujiwara (Battle Royale, Death Note) – not that anyone could tell by looking, as the character is a severe burn victim covered head to toe in bandages. Other villains from the manga who pop up in the trailer include Shishio’s Girl Friday, Komagata Yumi (Maryjun Takahashi); psychotic wunderkind, Seta Sojiro (Ryunosuke Kamiki); and sword-collector Sawagejo Cho (Ryoskuke Miura).
Digital Journal said that both films, Kyoto Inferno and The Legend Ends, cover the Kyoto arc in the anime and manga. Kenshin and friends face some of their most dangerous opponents yet: the Juppongatana aka “Ten Swords” led by horribly scarred Makoto Shishio. While powerful and dangerous on his own, he is only able to fight for 15 minutes. He assembles a group of highly dangerous individuals such as the young Soujiro Seta, a the trailer shows. It also shows Kenshin Himura, the prime protagonist, in battle against Aoshi Shinomori who is the head of the Oniwabanshu.
Kenshin has to keep Shishio from burning Kyoto to bring an end to the Meiji Era.
