PBA Commissioner Chito Salud summoned the players to his office on Tuesday and heard the testimonies of the players involved. After considering the 'factual and testimonial evidence' provided, the PBA commissioner upgraded the technical fouls called on Dillinger and Abueva.
Dillinger was fined P10,000 for his flagrant/unsportsmanlike conduct.
"As his act of physically restraining Calvin Abueva by grappling him by the neck, along with the taunting and trash-talking, is clearly unnecessary," read the statement from the PBA commissioner.
On the other hand, Abueva's technical foul for second motion was upgraded to flagrant/unsportsmanlike conduct "for the hard blows, inadvertent as they may seem, he landed on Jared Dillinger causing the latter’s face to bleed and bruise."
A P10,000 fine was charged to Abueva for his actions, while an additional P3,000 was also meted to him for flopping.
"This office has reviewed Abueva’s proclivity to exaggerate fouls against him and other forms of physical contact in which he is involved. In accordance with this office’s memo on flopping dated July 26, 2013, Abueva is being fined an additional three thousand pesos (Php 3,000.00)," read the statement.
Gary David, meanwhile, has been slapped with a fine of P5,000 for taking "a fighting stance that could have exacerbated the incident."--Source: Solar Sports Desk
