PBA player Chris Tiu was awarded The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) recognition on Thursday for his exemplary contributions to the young generation of today, using his "celebrity status to help form values of today's Filipino youth."
The 28 year old basketball star lamented in his acceptance speech that the youth, whom he called as "millenials" tend to be more narcissistic because of the advent of social media, posting "selfies" and "measuring one's self worth [by the] number of friends, followers, or likes that one has on one's social media sites."
He added that the young generation must be focused on "doing more" for the society, as they tend to become "lazy" because of today's technology.
