Carol Fortun, wife of topnotch lawyer Raymond Fortun, was shot in the face by gunmen riding in motorcycle Thursday night in Las Pinas City.

The shooting incident happened at around 8 pm just outside their residence after Carol alighted from her vehicle.
She was shot in her right cheek and went through her nape, but the bullet missed major arteries and bones by a few millimeters. She is now safe and could be out of the hospital in 2 to 3 days.
In a DZMM interview, Atty. Fortun said the killers may have been after him and not her wife. He was not with his wife when the incident happened because his flight from Iloilo, was delayed.
He said he is presently handling cases involving 8 policemen, the Makati Serendra blast and for a petitioner questioning the legality of PDAF -- commonly known as the pork barrel funds.
He is also the younger brother of lawyer Philip Sigfrid Fortun, lead counsel of the Ampatuans, who are implicated in a political massacre that killed 58 in 2009.

Police authorities are still conducting their investigations on the incident.
