More streets, called the 'People's Streets', in Pasig City will now be closed to vehicular traffic starting June 12, Independence Day.
The People' Streets are purposely closed off every Sundays so as to serve as an outdoor space where people can exercise, play, or just unwind from a week's work.
Here's a complete list on where to find car free streets in Pasig City:
1) East Bank Road
Mangahan Barangay Hall to Alfonso Street
Every Sunday, 6am to 6pm
2) Emerald Avenue
6am of Saturday until 9pm of Sunday
3) Caruncho Avenue Westbound
SPED Linear Park to M.H. del Pilar Street
Every Sunday, 6am to 6pm
4) M.H. del Pilar
San Nicolas Barangay Hall to Elpidio Angeles Street
Every Sunday, 6am to 12nn
5) Lopez Jaena Street
Every Sunday, 6am to 6pm
Also coinciding with the annual celebration of Independence Day, the Pasig City government will be giving out free bike lessons at Emerald Avenue with Bicycle Friendly Philippines and Pinay Bike Commuter Community.
While these initiative allows many to partake in the novelty of cycling, walking, running, or even rollerskating on the streets of Pasig City, it also helps promote “micro mobility options” and the reduction of emissions and pollution.
