The Metro Manila Developmenf Authority (MMDA), the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) and the Metro Manila Council (MMC) have set up travel and motoring guidelines when the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) takes effect at the National Capital Region (NCR) on August 6, 2021.

7 Key things you need to know when getting around Metro Manila during ECQ August, 2021

Below are 8 travel advisories worth knowing as Metro Manila shifts back to ECQ.

1. Quarantine passes are required anew

Persons who are not under the APOR (authorized persons outside residence) list should present the appropriate  documentation to authorities, such as their quarantine passes used during previous ECQ (or new QPs when applicable).

2. Travel in and out of Greater Manila bubble will be limited to APORs

The APORs, as specified by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), are the only ones allowed to travel in and out of the NCR bubble.

3. Curfew hours will be 8pm–4am once ECQ begins on August 6

The adjustment to longer curfew hours was approved unanimously by the 17 Metro Manila local chief executives. However, APORs and individuals who have vaccination schedules are exempted from the curfew hours.

4. Individuals scheduled for vaccination during ECQ are considered APORs

Individuals who will be vaccinated shall be exempted from both travel and curfew hours provided that they present appropriate documentation to authorities.

5. Limited passenger capacity on public transportation

Public utility vehicles, such as buses and jeepneys, are allowed to operate at 50% capacity on a “one-seat-apart” setup. Standing passengers will not be allowed, and only one passenger will be allowed at the driver’s row. For tricycles, passenger load shall not exceed one (1) passenger in the side-car.

6. Limited passengers on private vehicles

Passengers are limited to a maximum of two per seating row and positioned one seat apart, and only a single front passenger can sit on the driver's row. Face masks are required for passengers.

7. Number coding to remain suspended in August 2021

Due to the expected restrictions on public transportation rules during ECQ, the number coding system shall remain suspended during ECQ.

8. Truck ban suspended

The truck ban will be lifted once the ECQ is reimposed over Metro Manila from August 6-20 to ensure delivery of essential goods.
