A motorcycle rider faces countless violations with fines amounting to P15,000 after being flagged down by the police for not wearing the proper motorcycle helmet.
In a now-viral video from the Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT), the ill-fated motorcycle rider was flagged down by members of the PNP Highway Patrol Group because he was wearing a sub-standard nutshell helmet while driving near the corner of Araneta cor. E. Rodriguez Avenues in Quezon City.
According to I-ACT, the rider even attempted to flee when the authorities stopped him.
During verification, it turned out that not only was the rider not wearing the proper helmet, he was also not wearing shoes (he was in his slippers), which was yet another traffic violation.
But it didn't stop there.
When asked for his driver's license and the registration papers of his scooter, the PNP-HPG discovered that the scooter's OR/CR (official receipt, certificate of registration) the rider presented were fake. And to top it all, he didn't have a driver's license.
Let's do the math.
Now that his violations have snowballed to infinity, here's a running total of his (ugh!) fines:
1. Not wearing appropriate motorcycle helmet (the rider is wearing a nutshell), a violation of RA 10054 with a corresponding penalty of P1,500:
2. Motorcycle dress code (for wearing only slippers) an additional PhP500 fine;
3. Unregistered vehicle (fake OR/CR shown to the police) with a fine of P10,000;
4. And finally, driving without license, which is a P3,000 fine plus a 1-year suspension from being granted a driver’s license by the LTO.
All in all, a total of P15,000.
According to I-ACT, the rider was on his way to Sta. Mesa, Manila from Malabon because he was invited to play "pusoy".
