Taking a cue from Metro Manila, some areas in Luzon have imposed curfew and liquor ban amid the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in the country.
In Bulacan, Governor Daniel Fernando signed Executive Order No. 8-2021 imposing an 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew for a month starting Wednesday. The EO also imposes a total liquor ban prohibiting any individual to sell, transport, and consume alcoholic beverages in public and private places within the province until April 17.
In Pampanga, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin, Jr. also Imposed an 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew and ordered the temporary closure of gyms, fitness studios, and sports facilities. Other non-essential businesses in the city are only allowed to operate until 10 p.m. daily. The strict curfew hours was put in place as the city recently recorded a "surge" in coronavirus infections, as well as its first case of the COVID-19 variant first detected in South Africa.
Meanwhile, a curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. is already in place in San Pedro, Laguna since Monday. Citing City Ordinance No. 2021-02, the San Pedro LGU reminded residents to strictly follow minimum health protocols to curb the spread of Covid-19.
In Imus City, just a few kilometers away from Manila, Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi signed EO No. 70-2021 placing the whole.city under a 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew to take effect immediately.
In recent days, the Philippines has been recording more than 4,000 to over 5,000 new infections per day, bringing in a total number of coronavirus infections nationwide to 631,320.
